  Immeasurable Faggotry

A faggot is merely a bundle of something. While it is occasionally mistaken for a slur and threat of violence due to the phrase "another faggot for the fire" when burning people alive (an atrocious act, don't do that. and don't burn books), it derives this from its use to describe a bundle of sticks.

It can also mean a bundle of paper, and as such, faggotry is the essence of bookbinding.

Take about ten pages at a time, their printing horizontal and cleverly divided down the middle so that the printing on each side is sequential to the other side and offset for the number of pages distance it becomes (you did do that, right? aren't going to have to reengrave and reprint ten thousand copies of your eight hundred page book?) Fold them in half and nestle them together.

Pierce and sew the spine of each bundle. This is the binding, binding with thread. Thereafter, bind the bundles together.

One now has a book without a cover.

To make a simple hardback cover, make two pieces of paper barely larger than the size of the bundle, which is much thicker - thick, stiff cardboard. Possibly make or cut a thin strip for the spine, and sandwich everything between a thinner paper, gluing with wheatpaste. One now has a bound book without a cover, and a cover without a book.

  This is a perfect match.

One may fold a cover for one's cover out of a slightly larger sheet of paper or cloth, and wheatpaste it down if one wishes. Once one is satisfied with one's cover, simply slather the inside of the spine with wheatpaste or similar glue, drop the book in, and let it dry, possibly clamping or weighting it.

Congratulations. You now have a well-bound, top-quality book in the classic bookbinding tradition.
