Potato Chips!
Wierdly, something has been created where people charge many dollars for a single potato.
How'd you like to learn how to make your own potato chips?

It's actually really, really simple, and you have a choice between paying several dollars, or less than ten cents. You'll need...
• Potato. Quantity one.
• Cooking oil of some sort.
• Sea salt.
...and also a veggie peeler, and a frying pan or pot.
This is a great trick for people with small children. You get them addicted to commercial potato chips, catch them whining and begging for potato chips... and then you teach them how to make potato chips. On the one hand, it's a mean trick, but on the other hand, they'll be able to have potato chips pretty much any time they want for the rest of their life.
• Put a splash of oil on the frying pan, or put a bit more in a pot as a deep fryer.
• Use the veggie peeler to peel the potato to nothingness.
• Heat up the pan, or oil.
• Chuck the chips in one by one. Pull them out with a spatula or fry basket when done.
• Salt them, and add any spice mixes you're trying out if you wish.
Now, instead of a bag of potato chips costing five or ten bucks, it costs... a cent or two, literally.

You can't afford prepackaged snack food, and the planet can't afford the wrapper you throw away... but you can afford a potato. You can enjoy junk food like chips any time you want.
All you need is a veggie peeler.
