  Forming a Homeschooling Cooperative

Did you know that, on average, homeschooled children test in the 85th-90th percentile across all subjects? (Roy, 2010, 'Academic Achievement and Demographic Traits of Homeschool Students: A Nationwide Study,' table 11)

Obviously, you want to capitalize on this opportunity for your childrens' success by pulling them out of school immediately.

Of course, the state tends to prevent you from starting your own school, including a democratic free school, due to racketeering-based issues surrounding various accredations (and bribes), and yes, we can actually prove that this degrades outcomes mathematically.

There are no laws or rules, generally, surrounding tutoring, however. It is entirely possible to team up with other homeschooling parents to create a group tutoring activity for individualized homeschooling, which is "totally not a school." It is almost impossible to prevent or regulate against, in fact, under most jurisdictions' laws.

This has all the benefits of the bizzare child sacrifice to the god of the state known as "school;" one or two parents can do this day's learning supplement, while others can go shopping or get sloshed or just relax. It also has the benefit that you can go in together to finance bribing a college student with twenty bucks and a case of ramen to give an exciting lecture about their topic of study to some kids, or other similar supplementation.

By coming together, you can work together, pool your funds and resources together, and take turns giving each other a day off - and photocopying pages out of a library book is a lot cheaper when everyone pitches in on a ten cent copy. Consider networking with other homeschooling parents - and consider taking your children, even very young children, seriously. They can.
