  Mindfulness

We're all familiar with the more famous form of mindfulness where one follows the sensation of the breath, or the experience of hand-washing one's single bowl which is one's only earthly posession. Honestly, it's kind of awesome.

However, there's a much simpler form which can do a lot for your everyday experience, and that's actually paying attention to your mental and emotional state every so often.

 • Negative self-chatter

Do you find yourself engaging in negative self-talk and catastrophization? "I'm stupid," "I'm worthless," "this always happens," "this never works" and the like?

It's not helping you. Take a break and relax.

 • Frustration

Unless someone's bleeding to death, you can take a break, and are more likely to be useful to your work if you are calm. Take some time to relax.

 • Anger

Anger doesn't actually help a situation. There's almost nothing that you cannot take a few minutes to relax from.

If you find yourself getting angry, take a break and relax.

 • Internet and Video Games

Sadly, some individuals will, actually, try to mess up your mind for page views.

If you find yourself getting angry or upset or scheming on how to better "kill" video game characters - give it a rest. That's not good for you.

By paying attention to whether or not you're doing okay - and taking breaks - you can keep your mind in much better condition.
